Hong Kong Composers Guild: Commission Award

Angus Lee has been commissioned by the Hong Kong Composers Guild (HKCG) to create a new work for the Guild’s 2026 multimedia concert, set to take place at the Hong Kong City Hall Theatre. He is commissioned alongside fellow composers, Yeung Hoi-ching Alice and So Chuen-on Michael, who will each contribute a work to the event.

The new work, … but only the radiant, shimmering— (2025-26), is conceived for solo percussion (performed by Karen Yu), fixed media and light installation (created by Amy Chan). It takes as a point of departure Norwegian novelist Jon Fosse’s 2023 work, A Shining, the closing lines of which forms the title of the work. This piece continues and deepens the exploration of Fosse’s mesmerising literary world within Lee’s compositional output first commenced with anamorphologia (2024) for solo piano and paramorphologia (2025) for two pianos, both commissioned by Hongkong pianist, Kent Fu.
